SET BACK DAY!
So after experimenting with some ideas to make the guitar face a black candy look (on test wood which worked fine) i started on the face of mine. My choice of topcoat did NOT agree with my process... bubbled up and made a horrible mess. Must have been some wierd properties of the wood but ultimately the finish was ruined.
So ive gone into damage control trying to get the finish off the face. The good news is its removing fine! Which also tells me the ash is in fact a lot thicker than i originally thought. All the grain pop and clean wood is still there and this time i have even better teeth for the stain. Im 80% through removal of the old finish and the ash is in perfect nick thank god.
No photos yet so i dont jinx it... but i rekon i got this saved thank god.
Lessons learned!
