So I received the Keda dies kit and I'm going to make a bit of a test.
The kit contains 5 colours in powders that can be mixed to create any colours:

Based on the YouTube video from Keda, where he makes a royal purple, i mixed about 1 part of blue with 2 of red with a hint of brown.
I have prepared 2 mixes. 1 with water and 1 with isopropyl alcohol. I then died a bit of tasmanian oak I had cut in 3. The colour is close to the mahogany from the kit.
My mixes are slightly different in colours as i didn't really measure the dies. But looks pretty good
The plan is to try different finishes to see how they alter the colour or not, then cut each bit in half and for each bit leave one half in the basement and expose the other half to the sun to see how it holds...
For finishes i am going to try: acrylic gloss, Dingotone top coat and wipe-on poly.
We'll see how it goes!

Liking the Magenta shade the most out of those samples. Far right on 1st shot and middle on 2nd one above.

The 2x magenta ones are the isopropyl mix. Was much easier to apply than the water mix as it just soaks into the wood.
But colour wise the darker one is growing on me!

As its a water based stain the dingotone top coat wont take Fred....

TO went well on top of both DT (presumably oil based) and inks (which were water based) for all of my builds with no dramas. Mind you I did brush on the 1st & 2nd coats to prevent dragging any of the underlying stain all over the place when using a rag for that method of applying the stuff.

DB was saying I should be fine using DT top coat over these dyes.
I'd think that the solvent (water or isopropyl alcohol) completely evaporates, only leaving the dyes in the wood pores, so shouldn't be an issue with the DT oils.
But that's part of the reasons I'm running the tests. I want to check if any reactions with my 3 x finishing options and also check how the oil based finishes change the colour.
I've also started a small test to check light fastness. I've cut one of the boards in 2 and one will stay in the basement while the other sunbakes for a few weeks.
It's behind a window so not a full UV test, but I wouldn't leave a guitar outside anyway.
It also allows me to check which colour I prefer...
Going to be a hard call!
I'm wondering if I couldn't introduce a magenta to purple to black burst... 😀

Various shades of purple burst would be interesting.
The tests you have described make sense as the top coats will add their own shade to the end colour too.

So, some time has passed since I started my tests.
I started exposing the purple/magenta tinted bit on the 21st Sept.
Below are photos showing both bits of wood at the beginning of the test on 21/09, and after then on 15/10, after about 3 weeks of exposure:

I thought my test might be a bit harsh as I exposed the test bit on my rooftop terrace where it is exposed to full sun and heat all day.
Here's where it was:
