Hey Alkay, it's quite dark the centre of the top. You could water down a cedar (is this FW cedar as in red colour ?), or maybe a yellow or amber (light brown) stain may work.
Have you got 3 of the bridge/tailpiece bushes knocked in ? Would have been easier to stain without them in !

Also the veneers are usually about 0.6mm thick so don't do any more sanding on the veneer !!
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

G'day mate, tend to agree with Woks on trying a lighter colour first up as additional light coats will gradually come out darker overall and it is easier to go darker and almost impossible to go back the other way.

In relation to the shielding paint I bought the 2 x 30ml bottle pack that came with an applicator brush from this eBay site... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GUITAR-SH...-IQjyx6fyzSF6Q

First bottle solidified 24 hours after opening and I had to add some water to get it back to paintable consistency. Still got to do 2 coats on both Explorers and reckon there was half a bottle left. Same with the 2nd bottle where it went more gooey for the 2nd coats and still half a bottle left that seems to have gone more solid than liquid. Job done on all axes so don't really need it any more.

No I'm definitely not doing anymore sanding at all on the face of the body. Hopefully the next build is better.
