    It's really not that hard to sand down the bottom of a plastic nut - main thing is to have the sandpaper on a flat surface and hold the nut flat when you sand it. You should be able to remove the plastic nut with a pair of pliers

    is that DB'S video? seemed straight forward. but then again..
