And BTW doc it's looking really nice mate. Grain is popping awesomely and the colour is perfect. Waiting the extra time between top coats and you'll have a real gem on your hands! Take it from someone who totally stuffed my first finish and had to strip it back to bare wood ( and subsequently lost my flame veneer in the process) time is your friend! Good luck bro you're on the home stretch!

Cheers for that mate, yeah I agree, it's better to have patience and end up with a good result rather than rush it and end up stuffing it up, I'm glad everything has gone well up to this point.

Good advice there Darthdamo as I too hard to sand back a munted top coat that took it back to the base stain level. Patiently spent the next 6 weeks, yes 6 Weeeeks getting back to same level of finish before reverting to TO as MkI DT Top Coat had me spooked and was over all the wet sanding to smooth out dramas caused by impatience and the extra long drying/curing time.

It's good that you're listening to the good advice offered, Doc... it's coming up really nice!

It's funny how being patient and waiting now will actually save you weeks in the end.

For sure, and I agree, if I had've gone with my original plan of spray-painting the body a solid-gold colour I probably would have ended up with the whole thing going pear-shaped somehow, I've seen alot of other members builds go that way because they were impatient trying to get a certain result, I was pretty pleased that I did not end up with broken screws while doing my mock-builds.

The Strat body has been hanging up on it's coat hanger hook since last night, drying-out, last time I checked, the body did feel dry to the touch, which means that the bottle of Final Coat DB sent me is doing it's job properly.

    Update:

Seeing as the first coat of DT CG Final Coat was applied on Friday the 25th March, I'm wondering if tonight will be a good time to apply a second coat since the first coat has had three days to dry now?, it's now Sunday the 27th March, might wait till about 10pm to apply the second coat of DT CG Final Coat.

Damn, must have been one post or line too short on this page.

May need to add some filler here to get the good old Doc over the line.

Anyone out there willing to help?

Really struggling for any meaningful stuff at the moment.

Whilst the finish appears dry to the touch it's what lies beneath that matters most as I bet it is still doing a bit of slow curing.

Take the rest of the weekend off guitar building Doc and come back to it in a few days time.
