Alrighty, back with some progess and a few boo boos.

Fret slots cut. 95% happy, a couple of pulls missed the mark, but got there in the end. This tassie oak is some hard stuff. Next time I will be purchasing a mitre box to guarantee a parallel cut.

Glued the scarf joint together, left overnight and then bandsawed into a rough shape. Forgot to take my phone with me, so no pics sorry.

The major boo boo happened when trimming the sides to a decent width on the table saw. Accidentally ran the blade through the headstock fouling up my plans of a nice larger style. Eh, make it even on both sides and push on.

Finally on to carving! I've been looking forward to/dreading this moment.

Sawdust ahoy.

Surprisingly, it went quite well. The Shinto rasp is a fantastic tool for this.
