If you’re willing to use different style knobs you could go with a concentric volume pot, so you can have both volumes stacked.

I'm about to dive into the technical thicket that you probably call 'elementary wiring'.
I'll definitely investigate (stumble through) that avenue.
Although since finally locating the bridge, I'm now tempted to move the bridge pickup rearwards a bit more.

First foray into the wiring.
Encumbered with an amateur's level of soldering.
Hampered by dodgy factory wiring.
Several false starts but finally managed to produce a sound.

I'm waiting on delivery of a 'Gibson' style 3-way switch but used the kit one in lieu.
