Thanks franken but my office is at home and i dont think getting delivered to the work site would be a good idea
If anyones intersted i posted a vid on Facebook under adam j barnes of the trip to the maldives, the music is using the pit bull guitar i made
Well, yeah. That kind of puts paid to my idea that I never suggested and you know nothing about then.
Attachment 23314 what started out this arvo as an nut replace with tusq nut has turned into pull it all apart sand back the clear coats and re coat with t/o
Attachment 23381 the t/o has brought this one back to life
It was pretty Schmick to start with Barnesy, but it is looking extra schmick now!
Thanks its definitely not deliberate, this was my first kit and ive learned a bit more about guitars since it was built thanks to this forum. Its
been over 6 months since this one was finished and the clear coats had never set it was still tacky and soft to the point were hairs from my fore arm where sticking to the guitar. So while i was finishing the grs i decided to sand it back and re clear coat, it diddent really sand of but rubbed of in little balls
Wow sounds like a fault with the clear. Ive had that happen with a faulty batch. Was doing a tabletop that didnt dry hard. Had to scrape it all back to bare. Chemical driers are added into the paint at the factory, if they are faulty then they dont react with the clear and never cure properly. This can also happen if it reacts with undercoats or basecoats. Bummer mate. Better to start again sadly.
Had a pair of these roller bridges turned up today from musiclily of eBay one for this guitar and the other for the grs. Feels really heavy compared to the kit bridge and the pegs slide into the other ones like a glove. Thanks to wazkelly for the YouTube clip for the tipAttachment 23401Attachment 23402
Attachment 23437Attachment 23438Attachment 23439Attachment 23440 ive given it a go with some meguiars scratch X and a buff with the carnauba wax all ready to put back together
Looking good, Barnsey! Nice and shiny finish FTW!
Makes me think of a Cobra Daytona.
good work Barnesy it's come up nice and shiny after the polish. Assembly time !
I dig the racing stripe. Cool guitar.
It reminds me of gone in 60 seconds mustang Elenore. I have found the paint scheme for my tl when I buy the kit. Nice effect. I will use Silver and a black stripes. excellent work.

My Les Paul clear is still not rock hard. When it is I am going to sand it back and recoat with baslac. It takes 1 day to set solid. Here's the thing clear in spray cans has a shelf life. It also does not have the hardener added different process as nitro says. I will never use a can again. $300 got me a 5hp compressor 50ltr tank and hvlp gun.
Less over spray and real pro finish.

Attachment 23886 No 1 is alive again, finally got him all back togaather again, swaped out the neck pickup for a tonerider generator, and swaped the pots to Bourne minis and orange drop caps, and a roller bridge which ive grinded the bottom off about 1.5 mm to get the action down, and swaped out the nut for a graphtec tusq nut. It had been that long id forgotten how nice it was to play 😁
That is a nice looking design Adam, They are nice to play when correctly set up
Thanks jarrod
Man, that looks great
Yes, loving that superb glossy finish. Really looking good.
Are you tempted to make a custom truss rod cover for it, to really finish it off? It's the only thing now that says to me 'kit guitar'.
I agree Simon
