Hahahahaha :)
A mere mention of an email from Miss Fe sends a cold shiver up most peoples spines.... She takes no prisoners :p
hahahahaha :)
Hi John,
keep putting coats on with at least 3 days curing in between. Use as much as you need but to get a nice deep red you will probably end up using all of the stain coat and intensifying coat bottles. Have you used any on the neck and headstock ?
thanks wokka, no stain on neck or headstock yet, but i'll buy more stain as i need it,
thanks for the info
Heya mate, I did use about 2 bottles All up. As I went for the burst effect I wouldn't be able to say how much would be needed to get an even deep tone all over. If the sides (wall) are anything to go by I did I think 7 coats on them, and that was about half the stain of 1 bottle. I did only 2 intensifying coats over all and like 4-5 on the edges to get the burst effect really happening.
Hey Doc doubt it, Shazz said she is taking her time and last photo posted 15/11 the neck wasn't glued yet.
Doc I just read Shazz's estimated finish is around xmas time so you will have to hold off till then !
Hey Doc, I will be aiming for Christmas/New Years whilst I have a break from work. If not done by then shouldn't be long after. I'm still applying the finish coat so def not at gluing yet. I will be doing the electronics first as I have to go through the neck pocket to install the wiring etc .
Hope you have psychotherapy sessions booked...
I still have nightmares caused by wireing up the hollow body ES and the GR :p
Yeah I'm looking forward to the challenge but not so much the frustration that will be involved!
I will be keeping an eye on your progress. I am varnishing the front of mine and the wiring is next. The colour on your guitar is absolutely phenomenal. Great work....
Thanks Dekka! I'm a little nervous about the wiring! I don't want to stuff it up. Thinking of getting some braided and shielded cable from our local electronics shop. Just need to watch expenses. I think I will stick with the current pups and pots and switch and hope it works a treat :)
Hi shazz I got a my braided wire here:

hope this helps!
I hadn't soldered much before but found the PBG videos really helpful especially the intro to soldering.
Hi shazz, from all the reading I have done it seems that the braided shield s a must. I got mine from Amazon as I am UK based but I think that stew mac sells it. The braided shield will avoid unwanted noises really.
I think I am going to go back to the PBG videos a few more time as well before I get started.
Since the pickup circuit of an Electric guitar is what's called a High-Impedance circuit, it produces a low level signal which is very susceptible to hum and electrical noise, so it is very important that signal wires are shielded in order to reduce noise and hum.
Hope you manage to get the noise issues sorted out.
Thanks for that Doc! Appreciate it :) it's annoying cause t was all wired correctly as per the schematic but just the quality of cables wasn't great.
He's kinda put it on the back burner at the moment, I will make sure he gets to it one day!
What sort of cables was it?, if it was just one wire for the signal and another for the ground, there's a way you can add shielding to it by wrapping both wires together in some ordinary aluminium kitchen foil, making sure the foil doesn't touch any soldered joints, next you wind some thin copper wire around this and solder the free end of the copper wire to a convenient circuit ground point such as the metal shielding of the volume control, you can cut the foil into strips about 2cm wide....hope that helps.
No worries, let me know how it goes Shazzrandom.
Finally the staining is done yewww!!! This be the final colour!
DB, how much do you recommend using the wax finish on top of the stain?

Looks awesome Shazz. Really nice deep colour. Can't wait to see the hardware go on.
cheers,
Gav.
Thanks Gav! I'm excited, I got a black roller bridge so that with the black pick guard and the chrome everywhere else should look awesome! Thinking of a name and will most likely do it in black on the headstock.
I think I've decided on what is going on my headstock. This is Guitar in Japanese. I love Japan, and all their awesome things. I have not been there yet. But it is on the list to visit in 2017! Mine and my husbands first big holiday will be there :) I will most likely get black vinyl or something of the sort and use a laser cutter.

Holy jumpin catfish!
you can give it a coat of wax.
It will involve a lot of elbow grease though :)
I would let the finish cure for at eat a week before starting on the wax though.
Never even heard that term, I like it! Haha
Alright, I'll speak to hubby to see if I'm allowed to spend more on my guitar ;)
Wax has been purchased :) my arms haven't been in use for a few days so the burn will be good
wow Shazz, you have done a great job, for any guitar, not just a first
Thanks Stan! Appreciate it :)
Hi Shazzrandom, the guitar should look cool with the Japanese script, or Kanji, on the headstock, I've always liked how the Japanese people developed their system of writing, they are lovely people, my older brother got married to a Chinese lady a few years ago, he went over to China to meet her parents, and he brought her back to Australia, the last time I talked to my mum on the phone she told me that she had met my older brother's wife and told me that she was gorgeous looking, my older brother has said to me that his wife is keen to meet me, she is currently doing some studying at an Australian Uni to improve her English.
Beautiful guitar Shazz, the finish is simply sensational.

I know the Japanese culture has absolutely nothing to do with this guitar or style at all, but it's just totally different! I reckon it would look good!
How amazing are different cultures! I'm so excited to go overseas! I've Never set foot out of Australia but so can't wait to
