The whole project is coming along just brilliantly.
I am going to steal that stratified (nothing to do with fender) headstock trick.

Gaz - neat idea with the veneer on the headstock. Personal point of view, ditch the cheap plackie truss rod cover and if you still need one, make it up with the veneer (even better, use something like maple)... You've done all this fantastic work, to have the cheap plastic reduces the overall impact.
Hi all, have taken Brendan's advise and knocked up a neat little truss rod cover from Maple. It even has a little flame in it and will match the body nicely. Nice contrast to the Rosewood. ( Progress is a little slow as work keeps getting in the way). Hope to start with the wiring soon.

Thanks Gav. :)
nice touches on the headstock Gazza, you have given me some ideas ! This build will look amazing when its done
m2 wokka.. might steal this idea!
I think everyone's gonna be pinching this idea, way too cool.
Hi all
Have encountered my 1st problem. One of my tuners has not been threaded inside the spigot part of the housing (as shown). Not sure what to do?
Cheers
Gazza
Pic would be handy :)

Hi Gary,
Send Adam an email and he will most likely replace it. To tap it you would have to strip the shaft out and is not really worth it.
Loving how this build is going by the way particularly your headstock design.
If one of your stock tuners is malformed and unusable just send Adam an email and I'm sure he'll get you sorted out. Are all the others ok?
(edit: too late, Tony gets the assist)
Yes all others are fine. I will shoot Adam an email.
Thanks for your help guys. Much appreciated. :)

Have completed wiring and just set the neck in place. Coming along nicely.
Looking slick mate. Reminds me of Slash's new AFD guitar
Pro job man, reaaaal nice!! Just watch leaving that bridge sitting there like that, easy to forget about and next minute you stand the guitar up and it falls off kissing your beautiful finish as it moves south:P
This build looks awesome. I've said it before but love the headstock design, it really compliments the whole guitar. I'd be interested to see how the setting up goes. I've just finished same guitar kit but bridge has ended up quite high in comparison to the bridge pick-up (my amp will have to work just a bit harder!)
looks a million bucks Gaz well done mate. I normally put a scrap piece of wood where the clamps are on the fingerboard in case you mark or dent the frets. That headstock cover and shape look awesome
Well after a bit of a lay off due to being absolutely flat out at work I'm back.
I have had to re-work the neck joint angle to get the correct string adjustment range. The neck as it came was incorrect in angle and meant that when you adjusted the string height on the neck they were then a mile away in height from the pick ups with saddle very high in its adjustment range. ( I believe others have had this issue as well?). Lucky I used Tightbond which released the neck quite easily with a bit of heat. A quick plane to the base of the neck joint to give me the correct angle and I've just now re- set the neck back in place. Much easier job than I thought.
Will post more photos once complete.
Cheers
Gary
