1st ever build underway. Pore filled with Ebony Timber Mate then sanded to 600. Maple top coloured Lemon/yellow dye. Finishing with Tru-Oil. Just a couple of coats in the picture. Will do more coats levelling in between as I want a gloss level finish. The Mahogany body is natural in colour with Tru-Oil finish. Only issue is a small part of the Maple grain top has opened a little. Hoping the true oil process,will cover. Any tips welcome.

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....
Yeh not too worried about this. And yes the cap is very thin. I was ultra careful with sanding so as not to break through.
Thin caps and open grain aside, that yellow looks superb Gazza! What sort of dye is it exactly?
Colour Tone Lemon Yellow. I had to apply lots of coats to get the depth I was after as was quite watered down. I'm very happy with the result so far. Should look great with a few more coats of Tru-Oil. Once hardened off after a few weeks I will gently wet & dry with 1200 grit and polish as I'm after a glossy level finish. I'm learning lots as I go. I'm planning to bind and inlay the headstock as well, this will test my skill level - Ha. Talk about jumping in at the deep end
