My First Build the GR-1SF

Great work Shazz. I put a B70 Bigsby on an ES-2V a little while ago. The trem is pretty much the same as what you have and once the string tension is there, the spring compresses and brings the arm down. Don't know what instructions came with your kit but this is the Bigsby installation sheet, had to reduce the size a bit so not sure how clear it will be.

Not sure if you already knew how to wrap the strings around the bars of the bridge. Hope this is helpful.

Don't heat it... Being Mystery Metal it might explode or something.. :p
Veeeery gently cold bend it, but don't Hulk out on it as it might snap on you (Don't panic if it does, I have a few spares lurking in a dark corner of the Man Cave :) )

Hey mate, thanks heaps! I knew how to wrap the stings but this will be very helpful! I didn't get instructions with the kit and hadn't actually looked yet so this is awesome, thankyou!

Oh I don't want no Explosions! I'll use a vice and some womanly strength! Hopefully I don't get too buff from the wax application haha

It's not the pick guard it's self it's just the silver bracket that fixes it to the body. The Gretsch one has a bend in it where as the kit one is flat.
I hope the bar comes down, it just seems to be really high and not sitting on the spring right. I'll try have a look through the forum and see :) cheers

The reason why the trem arm is like that is because there's no string tension acting on the system, incidentally, guitars with those Bigsby Trems fitted tended to have rather thick gauge strings, like say 52s, not only that, the G-string would be a wound type rather than the plain type as found on Fender Strats, you'll probably find that once the guitar is tuned to pitch the trem-arm will sit closer to the body of the guitar.

Hope so too mate, going by the latest pics you've uploaded the guitar looks fantabulous (fantastic/fabulous), you should definitely do a sound or video demo of maybe you or your hubby playing the guitar.

That's only a dry fit, haven't done the electronics yet. I just wanted to visualise The final product

Don't do anything to the trem until you have got it strung up to tension, and even then wait until you have had the chance to play it like it is for a while. Like DB said the strings will bring it right down. I am confident that once you have done this you will discover that no bending will be necessary

Yeah, I will wait till it's settled and see how high it is. If I feel it would be more comfortable to adjust the bar I will do it at a later date :) I don't want to snap it or anything!!
