    House stf-1

Well it has arrived just in time. I decided to order something simple to begin with. Now to start looking at the tutorials and mock builds. At this stage I am going to spray paint it. Looks like a trip to bunnings or super cheap auto.😀

I ended up going to bunnings. I bought a deluxe metallic blue. I was looking at a different series, which required no priming. I just looked and this one does on dark surfaces.i assume this one maybe okay?

Started sanding the body today. Now just about to cut the headstock.I found a few templates at this site. I have decided on a Buddy Guy/Eric Clapton copy. I found downloading Adobe Acrobat and printing in 1:1 helps. ;-)

Hi Hbg, the no priming sounds great but have you checked on the can what it is used for as that may be fine on metal, which is probably the intended purpose, but on timber it can be a bit porous and primer helps to seal the timber so that top coats go on smoother and thus save lots of time spent sanding top layers and maybe needing to buy more of the expensive cans to finish the job.

Even on cars or anything bare metal there is always an undercoat of some sort which is generally the primer.

Yep I agree, unless you want the grain to show. If you want that super gloss mirror type finish you've got to fill that grain somehow

Best to try and match brands of paints just in case some react differently.
