Unboxing photos... neck tenon test. I've glued the neck, and started staining. No photos of the gluing process, but i used a couple of C-clamps and let it sit overnight. There was a bare minimum of sanding needed to provide better surface contact between the tenon and mortise. But nothing major... I did however notice what seemed to be a glue drop near the upper cutaway.. so I sanded it gently with fine grit dry paper... but sadly it was actually sanded througt the veneer. Bummerin my effort to redeem what i thougt was a glue spot, instead of removing it, i expandet it from a barely noticable spot to a "whitespot" the size of a toddlers pinky-nail... but when life gives you lemons etc. I think I'll be able to hide the worst of it by adding a "burstline" around the edges.. since this is my first kit this probably won't be my only minor accident along the way.

Bummer about the spot. Im building a lefthanded LP that ive used a tabacco burst on. This was to cover up an imperfection in the binding at the cutaway. Good luck with it. Mine is in the build diary under LP-1ML tabacco burst if your after some advice.
bummer Daniel. Rest of the kit looks great. I think that's the best fix for sanding through the cap, go a dark edge burst.

Well I've started some initial staining attempts... i kind of like the center burst. And the transition from dark brown to the lighter shades... but i can't seem to get a good transition from the black rim... Currently I'm considering spraying a solid black rim. Partly because of the sand through spot seems to not take stain at all.. any advise to wether my plan is doable or not? I kind of feel that i need to go with solid colour over the sandthrougt on the upper boat. And from there get the black/brown transition with dye.. but i'm not shure if it's even possible?
I've not paid to much attention to the actual "fade to black yet. As this process of staining I'm still working on getting the base colour right (getting close to where i want to be) and finding out the best way to fade into black while hiding my blemish

I thought i had researched "stainbursting" enough. But didn't have any backup plan for the sandthrough not taking stain as i hoped.. i just sprayed a scrap piece of wood to check if my idea can work as intended... but any advise will be very welcome

Imagine my suprise when i was scraping the multiply binding![]()
Bummer! Looks like i've got some "see-through-leaks of stain between the laters of binding... didn't know what to do so i just forced through the frustration, and started prepping for clear coat... rough weater has been somewhat limiting to my progress. In spite of my "insane viking spraying technique"for now, curing time

Bummer about the binding cracks where some of the stain has seeped in.
