    Adding the Finish

    Hey Guys,

I am building my first guitar, it is a TL-1TH, I have almost finished. I have used the Dingotone Karijini Red and have finished putting it on, so I am at the point where I have to put the guitar wax on, and because I have not done this before I was wondering what to use to apply the wax with and then what to do the buffing with? Thanks.

    Hi Jubre,

It could assist with a bit more info.

Have you put the DT stain, intensifying and final coats on? if so how many?

Are you intending to finish the whole guitar in wax or just the fret board? and what kind of fret board (maple or rosewood?)

Finally what kind of wax are you using?

    Hey Andy,
    Thanks for the reply,
I have put on 2 stain coats, 3 intensifying coats and 2 final coats, so I am very happy with this finish.

I have not stained the fretboard.

The fret board is the maple wood.

Unless you have any other ideas I was going to wax the whole guitar.

And I am going to use the dingotone wax I bought from the website.

    Cool,

the body should be finished with just the final coats. If you wanted to see how that comes out, I would put at least another final coat on and wait at least 21 days for it to cure before polishing.

Never tried waxing over DT finish, I think Shazzrandom did it on hers and I think she took videos.

I usually dingowax my fret boards. I have waxed both maple and rosewood.

My method is to get a heavy duty cloth, dig out a little bit of wax, kneed it with my fingers until it heats up a bit and becomes supple. I then put an eraser in the cloth (saves your fingers) and push a bit of the wax into the cloth on the outside then apply it to the wood and spread it out as best as possible. after about 5 - 10 mins, I use a bit of the clean cloth and take off the excess wax so its a bit more even. when im all done I put my polishing drill bit on my drill and give it a polish....comes up shiny
