The wire colours can change between batches of kits, so it's tough to say without seeing it. Can you post a photo of the pot/control plate?

it comes off and it is not attached to anything
Presume the chrome control plate has been pre-wired as is the case for Tele & J Bass too. Based on this assumption there should also be instructions that came with the kit explaining which wires connect to what.
