    Howdy

    Howdy people!
I’ve been buying and playing and buying guitars for years now and what i lack in playing ability i feel i make up for in (you guessed it) buying experience
.... did i mention i like collecting guitars?... cuz i do!

Anyhow I’ve come to the house of pit bull in the hopes of learning more luthier skills before taking on my own scratch builds. this marks my second kit build, the first was a typical tele kit from parts unknown i built a while back. I have to say i am impressed with the quality of PBGs especially considering the prices.

Now, my EX-1 has been patiently waiting for the ol schedule to cooperate and i can now finally get started on it!
There’s a whole bunch of ideas I’ve got for this project namely:

i will be replacing the stock truss rod cover, back plate and pickup mounting rings with matching wooden ones.

i will be carving up the back of the body. An idea I’ve had for a while now where on top of the standard belly contour i want to dish out the back of the body so that might 'hug' the player more an probably shave some weight off too.

and for the top i want to cover that in pyrography

the finish will depend on how the pyrography turns out but I’m thinking something along the lines of a trans tobacco burst
GAS implies that the people without a growing collection of guitars are the normal ones.... see it sounds silly now doesn't it?

lets see, about 15 at the moment (15.5 one's got 2 necks ) then another 6 projects and/or donors, also an ancient looking mandolin-banjo and a sitar (cuz it was going cheap and it had strings... how could i resist?)

Welcome Arte. Most of us here suffer from GAS in one way or another.

There's always another style of guitar, or a different method of finish, or different Mods or different gear set ups or new techniques...it is an obsession, but one that teaches you a lot along the way.
