    Hardware ideas please!

    Hi Everyone
I need some help if possible as I can't decide which way to go and thought I would see what you all think.
This is a scratch built "Tele" body contoured in Cypress Pine with a pyrographic snake. The neck is Tassie Blackwood with a Rosewood fretboard and clay dot markers and a sort of snakehead headstock shape.
My problem is what coloured hardware to put on. I think chrome is going to stand out too much, thought about gold, but may be too blingee. Although I don't really like relic guitars I think I'm leaning towards relic chrome hardware. Also Ive seen some youtube vids on relicing using Hydrochloric acid and wonder if anyone here has attempted it.

    All thoughts muchly appreciated

Sorry pics a little out of focus DTs

that looks cool. The snake and the impressive grain just seem to fit. I see your dilema with hardware.

Maybe Cosmic black bridge and make a rosewood neck pickup surround with some wooden knobs if no pickguard and rear cavity for electronics. black tuners?

Hi Euroa, great looking scratch tele, I would probably see how black hardware looks as the snake and grain are pretty dark.
Relic'd chrome may work too, you really need to rest the hardware on and see how it looks

I agree with Tony. Cosmo black would look sweet. And rear routed for sure.

And Schaller make hardware with a "Vintage Copper" finish that might look good with it.

They do do that, but getting hold of it may be an issue. I attempted to get a Trem in vintage copper for my FrankenWashie rebuild. it was expensive and a lead time measured in months. Though, If you've a direct line to the importer or the manufacturer Euroa you might have better luck than me.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

Black Nickel is nice too, its more like a soft grey than black. I have a set of Grovers here I was going to use then changed my mind. Might be hard to match up a bridge though.
If you can get the chrome scuffed up, boiling in salt water soon get things rusting up nice. Both lemon juice and vinegar gets some nice patina going on bare steel

Thanks wokka, think I'll go with the relic chrome on the body, black just seemed a bit dark when everything was put on, thanks so much for the feedback.
