Is the glue on your copper shielding tape conductive as well as the copper side? I mean, can I overlap them or I have to use the soldering iron?

don't think the glue is conductive...
you can put a sharp fold along one edge so two conductive sides touch, or like you suggest, a dab of solder at the join

It is conductive.
However, I still put a spot of solder on the joins only because I am pedantic like that
There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Always test your earth joins and shielding with a multimeter or continuity tester once its all wired up, just to make sure. The glue is supposed to be conductive, but if you want to add a safety margin, just do as DB does
If plan A fails, remember that you still have 25 letters left.
