    Gavin T's refret..

Our good friend Gav T has sent me a neck for a refret.
Reason being he just couldnt get the thing to play nicely when he did his levelling.

Turns out that this was not his fault, the fingerboard had a funky profile job which would have made it difficult for anyone to level the frets. Itt does happen occasionally.

Anyhoo, the neck arrived wrapped in five miles of bubble wrap.
One would think that this would be enough, but no.
Looks like Aust post had used it as a battering ram.

So first job was to remove the frets, and we all know how much I love doing that!
Then out with the trusty medium viscosity CA glue and a few clamps and a block of wood.
    Problem one solved.
Then the binding needed some attention.
So I melted some binding in acetone, taped up and applied a slurry to the prepared join.

It may take a few applications over the next few days but when done it should be invisible.

nice fix DB so far ! can't believe the damage Australia Post did to it, looks like its been thrown into the van at high speed and cracked the bottom corner of the fretboard and heel. Also looks like the 21st fret marker is cracked or at least marked.
How are you going to get the funky twist out DB, clamps and weights to straighten it ?

EDIT I noticed when I have ordered necks from PBG they wrap them in bubble wrap plus box them with fragile stickers, maybe that may have saved some damage but I agree 5 miles of bubble wrap should be enough

It wasnt a twist, just a not very good job with the profiling.
A few swipes with the radius beam sorted it out

Dang, that would have taken a fair whack. It's in good hands now though.

    Update on the neck.

Binding repair is nearly done, installed most of the frets today.
