Question about fitting my neck in the body

Hey man! I just received my explorer in the mail today. The only issue so far is my neck won't fit into the body. It's about 2 milameter's too wide. Should I just sand it down so it fits snug? I'm pretty new to this stuff haha

Hi Haywire, welcome to the forum. Haven't heard of a neck heel being 2mm too wide for the pocket. Can you please post some pics ?
Looks like you have no choice you will have to sand about 1mm off each side of the neck heel. This should be a set (glued) neck ?
Remember to do regular test fits so you don't over sand

Hey Haywire, once the neck is fit in snug do a mock build to make sure the neck is aligned ok. Fit your 2 outer E strings and check the offset to of string each edge of the fretboard is pretty even.
Glue use Titebond, just smear enough to get good coverage.
Are you going to glue the neck before or after you finish the guitar ?

my GD1 was impossible to slide in from the front but dropped in from the top extremely snugly, you could pick it up by the neck with no glue. Maybe the factory is tightening up its tolerances.
