    Wokka's ICA-7 build

just finished this build yesterday and I posted a video in the video demo section.
Apologies I never did a full build diary but will describe what I've done.
I sanded to about 240 grit and applied ebony Timbermate. Sanded to about 320 grit and applied a combination of Dingotone Bushfire sunset and Uluru red. 3 coats of poly clear coat and polished.
Headstock veneer is blackheart sassafras and DB cut me a 7 string bone nut. The stock plastic nut wouldn't have worked the outside strings low B and high E were too close to the edge of the fingerboard.
    Here's some finished daylight pics

    here's some more pics.
Pretty happy how it plays with no setup or neck setting in. The build is stock other than the bone nut and bell shaped truss rod cover just fit !

Also this kit is one of the rare PBG kits that have an ebony fingerboard, love the deep colour

Nice work Wokka, I like the finish you achieved and she sounds good too. 7 strings are the work of Satan, I have enough trouble with 6

cheers Dedman, was heaps of mistakes in my video, still getting used to the extra string. Can't beat that low B sound, the low chords sound so chunky

Looking good Wokka. Is it just reflection, or does some of the grain look white?

cheers Zandit, no reflection, you mean white grain on the body or headstock ?

I think that white showing on the body is polish that has caught in the pores and dried , I got to give it more of a decent polish

the white on the right of the headstock is some blond in the blackheart sassafras veneer

no worries Zandit, lesson to make sure the polish is well rubbed in and wiped off before it dries

cheers Andy, its good fun messing around with stain colours till you get the shade you want

originally it was going to be a burst, had yellow in the centre (I didn't like it), its bizaar how the centre looks darker than the edges now !
