Michael H first build explorer 7 string ash

HI guys, some of you might have already seen my build, it's a 7 string ash explorer, my first project guitar, back then I had no idea about guitars and felt like I rushed this project, any way the finish is a bit messy, i've changed the nut to bone nut and adjusted the truss rod, now it plays pretty well. I've just ordered a sg f1 kit hoping to start on the project next week. Got one question regarding the SG kit, do I sand the top vertically or horizontally? Coz the back would have be sanding vertically for sure aye?

Try reducing the image size to 1000x 900 and have another go at uploading

Hi thanks it worked, Mister Adam told me to ask you questions about the g type bone nut i've purchased, what gauge is it cut in? and what adjustment do i need in order to fit it on the guitar? also i have another question regarding the entwistle pickups i've purchased, a hv58 neck, and hdn bridge, do they require coil tap pots to work? can i just solder them on the stock pots that came with my sg f1 kit? Cheers

Nuts are cut for light gauge strings.
When you get to instal of nut, always sand the bottom and check the action height regularly as you go.
No need to worry about this step until you get to the final set up stage.
You can wire up as per the wiring diagram.

sand with the grain, usually in the direction of from the neck to the bridge , so i think "vertically" in terms of your question

the flame top is going vertically across the top tho, so like how would you sand this les paul top in the pic?

The flame or figuring is not indicative of grain direction...
Confusing I know as you would think it is. However the grain runs neck to heel just like normal timber.
