    Non PBG GOTY Entrants

    Seeing as there are a few non PBG kits showing up that were mostly bought from the DIY Guitars closing down sale thought it might be good to showcase them under a separate thread with a common theme.

    Not intending to detract from GOTM as that is the pinnacle and something we should all aspire to enter and ultimately win.

    Welcome to Non PGB Guitar of the Year (GOTY).

    Enter your finished guitar here to be judged for Non PBG GOTY.

    Please remember similar rules as per PBG GOTM:

    We would like to see at least 4 photos:
    · full guitar shot from the front;
    · close up of the body finish;
    · shot of the back of the guitar; and
    · close up of the headstock (please, no brand name logos)
    . link to your build diary
    . link to any video or sound clips of completed guitar

    Please post your photos in this thread.

    Please note: This competition is open to amateur guitar builders only. If you are making and selling guitars for profit, you are ineligible.

    Competition for 2016 closes 31 December 2016.

    Winner will be judged by the highest number of forum member 'likes' for each guitar.

    Prizes....bragging rights only plus the bonus of having a highly desirable guitar that is the envy of many fellow guitar builders.

    Maybe June or July for me, getting gun shy of doing any finishing with things cooling down rapidly here.

    Man I didn't know about that closing down sale fast enough. I would have snagged a Thinline Tele kit.

    Does this have to be from a kit or is from scratch still eligible?

    Mate any Non PBG entry is cool with me and reckon same goes for everyone else as no other place on this forum to really show off your finished builds.

    I guess I'll just put this here.
    This is a kit from the DIY Guitars sale it looks the same the TL-1TB.
    I was going to do a build diary but I am useless at remembering to take photos of things as I do them plus I probably would have gotten booted from the forum because a lot of swearing went into this kit. The front of the guitar was meant to be black colortone and tru-oil finish like the back but I had a mishap (lot of swearing and firewood threats) so sanded back and out came the rattle cans. Got a tele pick guard with room for a humbucker and modified it to fit around the F hole and the humbucker ring. I put a humbucker sized P90 in the neck, I put an Entwistle HV58 in the bridge and wired it up with a push/pull pot for coil splitting, has an orange drop tone cap, and one of DB's bone nuts. When I assembled it all the swearing was forgiven as it played nicely and sounded great with very little setting up. Then after playing for a while I realized even after leaving the body sit for a few weeks after applying the clear coat to the front it must have been slighty tacky still hence the wearing on the back edge of the guitar(more swearing). As I said all was forgiven because it plays great and sounds fantastic might look into doing a better job of the finish on the front later on.
