Cool Tele Bass build by Dingobass.

Today I picked up a new TLB-4 kit.
    So, what do you get?

A nice Basswood body with only the neck pocket and control cavity routed.
This one is a four piece body, with one piece running centrally through the body length.
And as luck would have it, all chunks of tree are Quarter Cut... Yippeeeeeeeeee!

The neck is all Maple and has a nice figure on front and back.
Headstock is pre shaped, personally I would prefer a paddle style.

Then you get a bag with all the hardware and control plate pre wired but no pickups.
Note to Tonyw.. Might need a set of Bass version Tele pups invented for this build. Have fun mate

And finally, a FREE Frisbee!!!! Ahhh, PBG, the company that just keeps giving.... Oh... Hang on.... It isnt a Frisbee, its a Scr..Scr........Scra... bugger it, its a timber hider.....

As for finish, I will be using this build as a test bed for a new range of Opaque Dingotone finishes.
Thinking either a Seafoam Greenish colour or a TV Yellow...

I've been starring at this kit, wondering what pickups..... and yea something along the lines of Tele pick ups would be very cool or something that would fit in those single strat type surrounds. I'm not enough of a bass guy to know if they exist.

2x 1951 P bass pickups would look shmik in it, or even just 1, might have to fatten up the pole pieces depends on the string spacing.

    Good looking project DB

nice one DB, so why did you get the fretted neck, will the speed bumps be removed ?

I bet that frisbee is sitting on the neighbors roof with a collection of router bits ?

    seafoam green would look cool

Thinking of dropping a Babicz string through on board..
    String spacing is 3/4 inch.

A pair of P's could work.. Thinking it needs to have a surf vibe if it is going to be Seafoam or TV....

Oh, and I forgot to mention the speed humps are the first thing to go... Got some very groovy line markers in mind.

Adam is a big meany head and wouldnt give me the Fretless version He was muttering something like 'we only have four in stock' or some such big meany head boss type stuff. Bet he makes me pay full price for the Babicz bridge too, just because he is a big meany head. Besides, he will probably end up acquiring the Bass for his big meany head tele napper collection.

Did I just say that out loud?
    Ooops....

well on the positive side DB once you rip out the speed bumps the slots are there for your groovy slot filler.
If this ends up in Ad's collection it's only fair he supplies the Babicz bridge !
The fretless necks aren't slotted are they ? think they are blank. You can't use your Stewmac slot guide as that only handles fingerboard thicknesses

Should be a sweet build DB, when I saw "Tele Bass" I was thinking more of a 50's P bass
