    Priming on sealed body...

I have an old, poplar strat body. Long ago I put a few coats of some sort of satin sealer and no longer have any idea what it was. At the time I sort of liked the green/gray streaks...but have since realized that it just does not work with the maple neck.

So here are a couple of questions for my planned rattle can finish:

Do I need to use primer before putting the color on if it already has some unspecified satin finish on it?

Once the color is on, can I topcoat with TO?

    Thanks!

    yes. yes.

I'd give it a bit of a sand for key first, then the undercoat. Because your finish is a bit of a mystery, you might get incompatability issues with your rattle can color. It doesnt need to be thick, just enough for complete coverage.

I believe tru oil does go over acrylic top coat fine
