    Hello from the outback

    Hi all,
I've been playing around with dirt cheap guitars for ages and love building and tinkering, but I wanted to build a guitar that I wasn't ashamed of showing my friends.
My wife bought me a PGB-1 for my birthday earlier in the year, so my journey begins.
It may be a while before I can really get started as I have other (non guitar related) projects going on, but I will start a build thread and ask many questions on the way.
My first question is this; the PGB-1 isn't listed on the website anymore, does anyone know what I have got? As in wood types, hardware, etc.

    Cheers

Andrew - welcome along - great plans - remember the mock build first off - just to make sure you have everything and its all schmick - rarely have any problems, but easier to sort them out before you start than after. From memory the PBG-1 is a basswood body - two humbuckers, 1 volume pot, 1 tone pot and a three way switch. I'll contact Adam who may have some more details.

Thanks Brendan, knowing it is basswood I'm dealing with means I can handle the body slightly differently during sanding/prep work.

    Hi AndrewA,

I have put the PBG-1 back up on the site so Brendan's tag should work. If not, it's here: http://www.pitbullguitars.com/shop/g...ic-guitar-kit/

I only took it off the site because we had sold out and there was very little demand for it.

A shame because I really like it and it has sentimental value to us here at PBG.

When we started, in August 2012, we only offered 6 models; TL-1, ST-1, LP_1, MB-1 and JK-1. When we realised we needed to expand the range, we were looking for something not everyone else offered, and the PBG-1 and PBG-2 were "original" models (ie, not copies of existing guitars) that our Factory had offered us.

Now we are at over 100 different models, I had to start culling. I think you might have got the last one.

Look forward to seeing how yours turns out, I really do like the shape.
    Cheers,

    Adam

    Thanks Adam.
I really love the shape of this guitar. It is different from anything else and gives me the freedom to make it look, and sound, like nothing else. It also provides some unique challenges, like where to put the strap buttons.

    Hi Andrew, Welcome.

Isn't Broken Hill Mad Max territory? Maybe that's why you want to build an all black guitar to keep with that theme perhaps?

    Hi Waz,
It was a choice between Mad Max or Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. I chose black.
