Home made postcards.....show off where you live.

With PBG supplying kits to all parts of the globe thought it might be nice to share some photos of where we all live, work and play as a way of expanding the interaction between forum members.

To kick things off I have travelled most of the East Coast of Australia from Cape Tribulation down to Wilsons Promontory and also been along Great Ocean Road and on to Adelaide. In my humble opinion the Sunshine Coast is the best place on this side of the country and hope the following photos provide you with a local's perspective. Should mention I have also been to Perth a couple of times too and fell in love with Freeo and Rotty but it is just too damn far away from everything plus the exorbitant artificial mining tax on everything jacks the cost of living sky high.

Looking forward to some good shots and accompanying stories.

These were taken on a deep sea fishing charter out of Mooloolaba back in Sept 2015. Sadly I caught no fish worth bring home but saw plenty of humpback whales instead.

    Nice part of the world

I was born and raised in one of the most beautiful parts of NSW, the Southern Highlands..
If you think things are expensive here in Perth, try living in Bowral!!

I ended up in Canberra for 15 years, a truly beautiful city but the winters are freaking horrible! It is also a very expensive place to live....

Now in Perth, and I love it! As for being expensive, I don't find it too bad, especially if you are not living near the city..

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

I have 1000's of pics but these will do for now.

Pics are St Kilda where i spent the early years of my life, and still go down there alot seeing as its not far, and the ship is a tramp steamer Kwangsi that was loading on the wharfs at Port Melbourne one morning when i was down there early.

    Sutherland Shire

Era Beach, where the weekender is and the view from the window looking over the beach
Directly below the bluff headland behind where the shacks are in the first pic is the location of the now infamous Figure 8 Pools

And the view from the front balcony of our house, hard to believe it's the middle of suburbia

    How ironic.

A "postcard from Port Melbourne", showing (now ex-) HMAS Sydney.

I only noticed, as I work on the FFG (Frigates). Sydney is (or was) one of my workplaces.
    Col.

I admit that I am an agent of Satan, however, my duties are largely ceremonial.

Small world lol i had up until Sept last year been on the wharfs for 10 years, my dad was at sea for 35years. My wifes Grandfather was on HMAS Stuart, the scrap iron flotilla in the mediteranian in 1940-42. Upon his return to Australia he was sent to Sydney to recuperate and signed on to HMAS Lolita, he was in action again against the Japanese Mini Subs in Sydney Harbor.

I also have some great pics of HMAS Canberra, The Canberra Class Amphibious Assault Ship, she was bought across from her dock to East Webb under tugs so they could practice loading her, and make sure they could get the vehicles on and off, they found problems with the B ramp straight away, the trucks wouldn't go on board.
