    One of my Favorite pedals.

    Hi everyone,

Thought I'd start yet another of my threads so I could post a pic of one of my favorite pedals, anyway, this isn't one of my own diy builds, it's one I bought in a shop, they had to order it in for me though.

Okay, there can't be too many guitarists who would not know what one of these is just by looking at it, yes it's a Fuzz Face, this is actually a Jim Dunlop JD F2 Germanium Transistor Fuzz Face, so, what does it do?, it Fuzzes-up your guitar, Fuzz is a type of Distortion effect that was popular in the 60's, Jimi Hendrix used one during his musical career.

Here's a pic of my Jim Dunlop JD F2 Germanium Fuzz Face, it uses two AC158 Germanium Transistors:

Feel free to post a pic of your favorite pedal if you have one.

It's one of my favorites because it is such a simple pedal to use, even for someone as simple as me.....lol.

I tried reading the user manual but had no luck until it dawned on me....I had been reading it upside down, no wonder nothing made sense.....lol....j/k

While doing some browsing on eBay, I decided to have a look at all the items in my Watch List, amongst the items were a set of ten New Old Stock BEL AC128 Germanium PNP transistors, the AC128 is one of the types of transistors used in early versions of the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, which my Jim Dunlop JD-F2 pedal is supposed to be based on, in actual fact, the JD-F2 circuit is a modern modded/temperature stabilized version of the original circuit, the AC128 transistors are selling for Au$48.38 for a set of ten, I'm going to by two sets of ten next Tuesday because I'm going to replace the existing circuit board with a more vintage looking one which I bought online with a kit of parts, once I receive the transistors in the mail I'm going to go through and test them all with my Semiconductor Component Analyzer to find two good ones that will work in the Fuzz face circuit.
