    Just joined up

    Hi.
Having purchased a Pitbull kit I thought it worth joining up. This certainly seems a fantastic resource. Bought a TLA-1 kit - very impressed service. Never tried to build anything like this before. Absolute begginer. After some intense weeks sanding (and resanding after a splinter lifted out when I thought I was done) - I just applied stain.

Welcome along - what colour are you going with the TLA kit? Let us know if you have any questions!

Nullabor Ochre. Am very pleased with the colour - but may have gone a little heavy on top edge where darker grained wood seemed to have really soaked up the stain (I am assuming some steel wool before the intensifier might help ?). However - the tone does seem to be changing since I applied yesterday, so will see what it is like at end of the week. Back and front are lovely though. The scratch-like feature in bottom right is actually a flaw in the wood that goes right through to the front - all adds character.

Wow that body is looking amazing! The ash grain has really popped nicely. The end grain along the outside is notorious for soaking up large amounts of colour. It's just how it is. You can compensate by using a weaker solution for the sides, but it all adds to the look imo. Looking forward to more progress. How about a photo of the front!!

    cheers,
    Gav.

Nice piece of timber there DJP. Looking pretty good with lots of nice grain action happening. Hope the front looks as good too.

Here is the front (photo's with and without flash). Very pleased indeed. Going to be patient and leave it at least a week before applying the intensifier.

Hi DJP, welcome to the forum and that nularbor ochre looks unreal on the ash.
Were all the holes pre-drilled on this kit or have you done that ?
