    Tony's Coranado style

Bought a Coranado style kit a while ago and now building for my cousin

Really happy with the grain and had originally thought of a vintage amber with subtle tobacco burst but blue is what we are going with.
Missed a glue spot on back that will have to fix and give the front a steelwool to polish a bit before cleanup and clear.

Probably Silver Hardware (as not going to be dark enough top pull off gold) and have some Wilkinson PAF style pickups to fit for a bit of vintage vibe.
Will upgrade to Gotoh bridge and Electronics and probably Gotoh locking tuners.

The wiring is a pretty long loom that will need to be fitted through the f holes so will require a bit of planning and a few more beers in the fridge when it comes time to fit.

Hi Tony, what are you using for stain? Looks like officeworks ink pad blue that someone has been used on Tele recently?

I am currently hunting for a cherry red finish on ash J Bass body and seeking ideas/inspiration as most colours seem to be too much orangey red or too much darker mahogany red.

Hi Waz is a colortone blue. The cherry red they make is pretty good and gives really nice color. Not sure were you can buy the colortone dye unmixed in Oz.

Dont know if it helps but quick mix of cherry red adding additional drops. Photos dont pop as much as the real colour.

    Thanks Gav,
not sure what to clear it with, my love affair with TO seems to be over. Last few have been a pain to finish to a good standard and heaps of rework.

Hi Tony, Thanks for the Cherry Red samples. Do they come up like the colour on a cherry burst LP?

The heat seems to be affecting TO for me at present as it is almost drying as soon as you wipe it on. Agree that it is hard to know what to use for a good easy clear finish.

Edit....forgot to mention that is a wicked looking blue.
