LPM Revisited

So decided to get into some older jobs I had been putting off.

This LP was one I was working on before I flipped the neck off the work bench with a power cord and broke the headstock and effected a bad "fixup"job. (original thread completed with substitute guitar)
Adam kindly gave me a discounted new neck to replace the broken one so I suppose its time to finish it.

So wondering how to trim the bottom of the neck and ensure I maintain the correct neck break angle.

Hi Tony, might need to sand the bottom of the neck heel down a bit so the fingerboard sits flat on the body next to the neck pocket

Love this build Tony. The body colour is killer. Also that inlay you've got for the headstock is amazing! Who is the ebay seller?

After a bit of head scratching decided to have a crack at trimming the 4 1/2 mm of extra meat on neck heel off. After marking up, made a dodgy routing frame out of some plywood and wood screws with nuts as a base. Clamped the neck in the workmate and then started to set up the frame.

After getting the headstock flush to the plate did a test for depth and then routed the base of the neck off. Left a little meat and filed to where the fit was pretty good.

Still have to tweak to seat it properly, take a touch of twist out and trim the side to suit, but pretty happy with the result.
Made up a template off the headstock to start lining up the headplate to fit with the least amount of inlay obscured or requiring cutting.
