Check out this youtube video clip.

Here's something that's got me wishing I had a spare 9000 Euros to spend on a new piece of music equipment, it's a Knifonium, what's a Knifonium? I hear you ask, well it's a Synthesizer that uses....wait for it.....Valves!!....25 of them as a matter of fact, and have a listen to some of the sounds it can produce electronically, this is pure real Analog Synthesis at it's finest, no digital modelling software or circuitry:

A Synthesizer is an electronic musical instrument that creates and produces sounds electronically, the parts of the sound are generated electronically and are combined to create the sound we hear with our ears, the word Synthesize, or Synthesis means the combining of parts into a connected whole.

    Gday Doc,

If you are lusting after all this old school analogue stuff ( and who doesn't ) what you really need is a Mellotron

Ahhhh....the Mellotron, apparently it was the world's first sampler before the Fairlight CMI was invented, artists like Led Zeppelin and Jean Michelle Jarre used one both on their recordings and at live concerts.

The Beatles used a Mellotron on their studio recording of Strawberry Fields Forever, Led Zeppelin used one for the flute parts in the song Stairway to Heaven.

I've been planning on building a big Modular Synthesizer for some time, but it's a project that's been on the backburner for a long time.

Here's another youtube video of another Synthesizer Grandaddy...the EMS Synthi AKS, this is one piece of equipment that I would love to own together with a mint condition Roland Space Echo, have a listen to the spaced-out sounds if you want to know why:

I've got a big folder of hard copy printouts of the complete construction details for the ETI series of Synthesizers in amongst all my stuff at home, there's also full construction details for the ETI4600 Synthesizer too, I'd love to build one, here's a youtube video clip of an ETI4600 Synthesizer:

And here's Strawberry Fields Forever by The Beatles:
