    Chibson "Slash" signature Les Paul

Did a trade today, the guitarist in one of my bands needed a spare guitar so he had acquired this but it was of no use as it does nothing but squeal so being a top guy that i am i had a Les Paul by Vintage that i had carried out a repair to a broken neck where it had fallen and cracked it, i had picked it up for £30, carried out the repair and french polished the crack so well i even amazed myself.
Not sure what i will do with the squealing Chibson, may just hang it on my guitar tree and an ornament.
So far i have corrected the intonation and corrected the set up as the strings where catching on the frets, it plays well through my small practice amp.

You could try replacing the pickups with some new ones.

Hi Doc, yeah its an option, i've been looking at some on eBay, i really don't want to spend too much cash on it, i managed to kill the tune-o-matic buzz with a couple of drops of linseed oil on the adjuster screws. I'll watch out for a set of quality zebras on eBay try to snatch a last min bid.

You could also consider ordering a set of these Entwistle pickups from PBG, I ordered a set of the chrome HV59s for my Chibson SG, there's a neck and bridge version of these Entwistle HDN-N pickups:

    Wot Doc sed.

Also, the Toneriders are good if you are after a more classic sound.
I would also replace the electrics. You can get these chibsons to sound OK without breaking the bank..

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Sad to see so many fakes out there but when the original Gibbo costs so much it is easy to understand why they do it. The inconsistent Quality Control issues with the original don't help either which is why I bought this during end of June sales for $199 delivered to Maroochydore Qld. Plays sweet straight out of the box, no work required as fully sorted. Sure it is a chinese Epiphone bolt on neck but for the price, hardware and finish I could not build one for anywhere near that price. Here are some photos and you find it at Gallins currently for $299 down from RRP of $499.
