Thread: EX-1 Neck Tenon

    Question EX-1 Neck Tenon

    Hi

I recently routed my own Explorer style body and as this is my first build I wanted to fit a pre-made neck. I have looked everywhere for a set in neck and can't find one - other than supplied in a kit such as the EX-1.

Here is the body: Click image for larger version.

Can anybody tell me the width of the neck/tenon so I can rout the correct sized cavity, buy the kit, use the neck and keep the kit body for a future project? I need to be sure that my body will take the neck, particularly the neck/tenon width. The depth shouldn't be an issue (I have 45mm to play with).

    Any help will be appreciated.

    J

    Hey Mateyboy,

Best bet would be to get the kit, make your routing template to match the neck heel and then go nutz and rout the pocket.
This will ensure that everything fits up properly.

Yeah, think I'll do that - I live in the UK, what is the general shipping time?

    Not sure on that.
Maybe one of our UK based peeps could answer?
Otherwise you could email Adam, he may have an idea as shipping is his domain.

I placed an order, on the website it says up to two weeks. The explorer will have to wait... on to the next project!

The kit arrived, less then 6 days to the UK which I was very impressed with. I routed a neck pocket out on my body, see image, and now I am ready to calculate the bridge placement. Does anybody know what scale length is used for the EX-1?

Nevermind, I'm being stoopid! I can measure the length myself!

The Explorer is typically a 24.75 inch scale length.
