    PitBull TL-1 Liam.

Ok! Been having a bit of a rest, doing other stuff, so about time I started another kit.
This time I have a TL-1, building for my grand son, Liam.

Have done a bit of work around the house, including a new bench to build them on.

Just cut the head stock today and sanded until I thought was enough.
Now all I need to do until the finish arrives is sand it some more, and maybe start on the body but no hurry at this stage.

Two pics' of the neck / headstock.

Have ordered some DingoTone, so hopefully it will be here soon.

    Rick.

    Bondi Blue Tele

Well! I think I have had enough time off,

I am happy with the neck, but not all that happy with the head stock face. I think it can be better, but will leave it as is and see how it looks with the decals.

The body is another thing all together, not happy with it at all, I will order another bottle of the stain and see if I can improve this.

Still have about four months before it needs to be finished so plenty of time.

Hi Rick, welcome back, I missed your post late October. Just keep applying the bondi blue and hopefully the colour will deepen. The photos you posted are very small so can't really zoom in.
Have you been rubbing fine steel wool in between coats ?

Hi wokkaboy, yep just a fine steel wool rub, I will order some more stain (if I can) I used a fair bit on the head stock and only two coats on the front and sides with one on the back.
The photos were too large so I posted them again but still too large so had to make them small to fit. Maybe I'll try sending just one at a time next.

    Shading.

Been a bit slack the last few weeks, happy with the neck / head stock. There is bit that has no stain but I sort of like it, well thats my story anyway.
As you can see I need to do a bit more to finish the stain on the body. Wating on some more "BondiBlue", should be here, hopefully this week. Then the fun really begins try ing to have it like the headstock.

Ahh the vagaries of blue colouring. Hopefully more DT will deepedn the colour to your liking. The headstock looks great so fingers crossed. She's gonna look great in the end!

    cheers,
    Gav.

WOW! Today my BondiBlue came in the mail, one happy boy here.
Gave the body another coat, not sure just what is happening. The maple head stock came out ok, but the Basswood will not accept the stain too well, as a result it looks very much as it was before. SO! Will try a few more coats and see what happens, I really don't mind the "patchy" look (that's what i keep telling my self anyway) but my 8yo grand son may not, Not being a guitarist into the oldish look.

So no photos until the next coat and then we will see what it is looking like.

Hey Rick, keep applying coats and let each coat cure for at least 3 days. Maybe don't worry about steel wool between coats. I found the bondi blue a hard colour on basswood to get really dark.

Good luck and please post some pics after a couple more coats

Maybe need to sand back down to 240 or no more than 320 to allow the stain to soak in as you can get around to getting a smoother finish once the layers develop.
