UAD have released a new USB3 Windows Audio Interface
Universal Audio, have announced an Apollo Twin USB enabled Interface with Realtime UAD Processing so that Windows users can enjoy the UAD experience too, by using a USB 3 connection to the computer.
It is the same unit with the same features that several of the PTE team have with Thunderbolt for our Mac computers with the key difference being a USB3 connector instead of a Thunderbolt connector. It as the same I/O with two inputs and 6 outputs, the same onboard Realtime DSP UAD-2 DUO Processing.
The Apollo Twin USB also features the same Universal Audio Unison™ technology, which allows its mic preamps and front-panel DIs to sound and behave like tube and solid state preamps, guitar amps, and stompboxes — including the impedance, gain stage “sweet spots,” and circuit behaviours. Now Unison lets Apollo Twin USB owners track through a range of colorful preamp emulations from Neve, API, Marshall and more with amazing accuracy.
The Apollo Twin USB supports Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 and will ship with Universal Audio’s "Realtime Analog Classics" UAD plug-in bundle, featuring legacy editions of the LA-2A Classic Audio Leveler, 1176LN Limiting Amplifier, and Pultec EQP-1A Program Equalizer, as well as the 610-B Tube Preamp plug-in, Softube Amp Room Essentials. It is expected to start shipping in October, 2015 with an estimated UK street price of £629.
