    Grain popping and filling

Is it worth trying to pop the basswood grain a bit? figured id give it a go if so, also wanted to check whether i should do grain filling before staining black and sanding back? that seems like the logical order of proceedings but i figured id check anyway

yeah I'd give it a go. Some of the basswood bodies have some nice subtle grain. My tele's grain popped a bit just with natural timbermate before I covered it in green paint, so definitely worth a shot.

No real need to fill Basswood, it has a reasonably tight grain structure.
Just hook in with some stain then sand it back.

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....
