How to confuse a bass player

As wrong as this looks, it is intentional. The theory is something along the lines of increasing the b string further past the nut gives the string extra elasticity for easier bending. Whatever it does, my already addled bass player brain would never accept the strings being out of order on the headstock and the b string tuning in the opposite direction.

Not me, mate. I would curse this thing every time I tried to tune. But, yes, I imagine this would be a superb looking and playing bass, it is a Fodera after all.

some of my Cigar box guitars have the string wound the opposite way so I sort of got a bit of practice reverse tuning 2 of the 4 pegs haha
but yeah the B string on the A tuner would throw you out every time

I found a pic of the full bass.

Hmm, no thanks. I hate seeing too many controls jammed in too small an area.

nice looking bass Pabs but agree either make a bigger control cavity or use less controls. Surely the amp head has enough settings to change your sound

Could you not fit a machine head from the other side?

it's a shame really, i bet it sounds and plays quite nicely. i just couldn't get past the awkward head stock and controls... i probably would have added a second cavity for the pickup switches, side mounted the jack and spread the pots out a bit more. i feel as if, as is, i wouldn't be able to adjust the volume of 1 pickup without adjusting another parameter, or accidentally flicking off a pickup.

demo of a similar bass (regular headstock though) showing what all those controls do...
