    Wink IB-5...first ever build

Got my IB-5 yesterday looks great! Have done the mock up and started sanding! Was wondering where I could get some gold tuning pegs and a gold bridge? Can anyone suggest sites/brands/types etc.? Many thanks! Want to get some gold hardware as i'm basing this guitar on my Ibanez SR5005E-OL. Its going to be very interesting seen as its my first build, so will be very glad of anyones suggestions
    Cheers!

Hi Ruben. I get 90% of my hardware and bits and pieces off ebay. As for brands, really depends on how much you are willing to spend. Look forward to seeing some progress.

Would you be able to post some links?? Just don't want to go buying stuff that doesn't fit. Cheers

Having never built an IB5, no. Your tuners will be standard 'modern' size i.e. fit 10mm holes, but the bridge is a different story. Take lots of measurements and get something that matches as closely as possible. But, if you find something you like that isn't exactly the same, modifications can be made. But, that's something you need to decide on now.

Here, compare these to the one you got in your kit.

Tuners might be problematic, you might have to buy a set of 4 and then an extra one. Protip: gold hardware is always more expensive. Sometimes by a lot.

Nice kit ruben. She will indeed look sweet with gold hardware. Post pics of your build and share with us. Cheers!

Those are 18 and 19 mm string spacing bridges that pablopepper linked. The bridge supplied in my IB-5 kit had 17mm string spacing, but measure yours, it might be different. Watch out for a wider spacing as it would push the strings closer to the edge of the neck.

(measure from the middle of the saddle notches. The distance from the first to the 5th, divide by 4 (5 string bridge).)

    IB-5 - was finished, considering re-finishing body
    IB-6S - done.
JR-1M - dressing frets and electronics build
ST-1 - still wondering how to install a tremelo
Telebass - non-PBG from parts buiild - painting body

Thanks Tindrrel. String spacing is very important.

Hello all...much sanding has been done!! Cant wait to get started on the first stain coat, which i'll attempt tonight. What kind of rag would be ok for the job? I was just going to use an old cotton t-shirt but thought i'd ask?

Have included some pictures of my kit and also some of my Ibanez Prestige SR5005E-OL which I want to base the build of my IB-5 on. That's why I want to get gold hardware. As you can see, a dark timber with gold hardware looks seriously mean!

Hi Ruben, welcome to the forum and nice looking kit you scored.
as others have said choose the bridge carefully so I wouldn't go over 17mm string spacings or the B and G strings will be too close to the edge of the fingerboard.
See the Ibanez pictured has the 3 tuning pegs on the treble side of the headstock (PBG has 3 on the bass side)
For staining rag try get some lint free cloth, otherwise if the t-shirt is pretty fine grade it will be fine for staining.
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in
