    JR -1M in a Hurry

Okay received my JR-1M early last week, time to get cracking on it.

Due to a large build up of GAS this project is going to fly. Tele project has been temporarily moved back. Plan to be playing this in a week or so!

Body has some nice grain as does the neck. As usual need to tidy headstock up a bit (1.5mm off the right side). This will get the full G style wings treatment.

Body sanded back to 360 and orange colortone applied. Picture is the first coat but have since completed it. Neck also sanded. Did a dry fit. Had to enlarge pup route slightly (using a guitar fetish P90). I have also banged in the bridge posts flush to body (with earth wire) to avoid damaging finish.

Headstock shape tonight then fret dressing tomorrow followed by stain of neck. Nut to be replaced with bone. Truss rod cover replaced with epi one.

Wiring, CTS mini pots (500k vol & 250k tone) with orange drop cap and trying some slug tape from the green shed of doom for shielding. Switchcraft input jack. Probably will use stock tuners but will give vintage Kluson a spin if the conversion hole bushes are nice and tight.

This axe has already been claimed by offspring as it has a small body for kids and it's junior!

Pot holes widened for pots, one coat of TO applied. So much for my orange, it's come out a lovely golden color!

I'll take some better pics in the daylight with real camera.

I also ran the earth from other bridge post, idea is I can solder this to the shielding on way to pot.

Looking good Andrew, love the honey colour.

It may have a small body (waiste line) but it is big around the hips and is not as nicely balanced as, say a tele. But she is still one of my favourite PB guitars.

Ha! Almost. Unfortunately looks like a new round of rain will slow curing a bit....
