With a plank body or just a neck that sits on a tripod?

Either way I'd probably get a kit of that.
    - Sam

    IB-5 - was finished, considering re-finishing body
    IB-6S - done.
JR-1M - dressing frets and electronics build
ST-1 - still wondering how to install a tremelo
Telebass - non-PBG from parts buiild - painting body

DB was toying with the idea of building a scratch upright bass, not sure how far it's got. He did show me a design of the body. He's probably got bogged down with 400 other projects since !
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

If it was made decently I think you would get a fair market for one, they are not very common at a decent price and a lot of bass players (myself included) would like to dabble in the world of uprights.

I for one would be interested, after I finish current projects (a year or two at least).

Pickups (piezo) could be an issue from companies who generally only source magnetic pickups. There would also be a lot of compromises about exactly how it was made etc.

If you are looking at upright basses, what would be the chances of doing something like a Yamaha Silent Cello?
