    Hey Charger -T L1A

So instead of succumbing to my current urge to relive my youth and buy another charger, I decided to do a theme guitar build instead. Have had a TL1a kit floating for a while so will be the lucky candidate.
Going to paint the body in either Arctic White or Charger Orange but leaning toward orange. Bought a cheap repro decal kit and have done roughy design layouts. Will upgrade the standard pickups to something hotter and no pickguard just pickup surround.
Have a spare decal or two to experiment with clears to see if will have an effect on the decal.
Now just gotta learn to paint.

love the theme Tony what a cool idea, deffo go the orange paint would look sick with the decals on. I'm a major fan of the chargers, there used to be a Chrysler show every year in Perth I always went.
Be interested to see how the decals go with a clear coat. I got an old project a Peter Brock Flying V I will have decals on, want to see what clear coat will protect the stickers and decals and not ruin them.
Will be watching this build closely.
So is this an alder tele kit ? My alder tele had a humbucker sized neck pup route, your's has a single pup route

My brother used to have a 770 in hemi orange. Total beast. This sounds like a great project.

I wonder if it's luck of the draw? My ash tele had a humbucker sized neck pup route too.

Cool idea for a theme, be interested to see how it comes out!

Yeah, I'd be trying to colour match the orange on the decals. I reckon going orange would make them "sit into" the body finish as opposed to the stark contrast of white. I always remember Chargers in orange Duco anyway.
P.S. What'cha gunna do with the headstock?

Max had an off the wall thought about cutting it to a key shape retaining the top flat and keying the bottom and adding the side groove as well, but haven't yet had a change to sketch it on the head-stock or how I would colour it.

that would be a cool headstock shape Tony, sure you will come up with something that relates to the Charger. You got the Six Pack sticker for it ?

Ian I've seen 2 ash tele's and both of them had a humbucker sized neck cavity, they are a bit oversized so I had trouble finding a pup ring big enough to cover the hole, although these kits come with the pickguard to cover the hole
