We've got this TL-1A kit (A as in Alder) with some weird body marks. They look to be features of the wood, rather than any fault or stain.
Retail price is $189, this one is yours for just $150.

Hey Ads I've built an alder tele and mine had some weird grain in it similar to this kit.
Should look great stained Tony, good score mate
Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck
Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in
Ok, thanks Wokka, this is the first one I've seen, but I'm not surprised that the Chinese Alder has a few blemishes. We couldn't buy Alder here for the price they're selling a complete guitar kit. I agree, with a nice stain, this should look pretty cool.
Cheers,
Adam
