My wife was throwing one of these out having not used it. Her loss, my gain. Does fret wire up a treat and is easy to get your hands on one.

Nice catch. Crimson guitars sells those specifically for fret work but with shipping Ive never been able to justify the price. Im jealous man.

They are effectively 4 grits of very fine sandpaper, the top three shine stuff up to a nice gloss easily. Totes cost if I need a new one (mind you they're not small) ~$7.

These are a variation on the micro mesh pads developed for the aero industry for polishing aircraft windscreens.
I have a set that goes from 1200 to 20,000...

Brilliant stuff Bman, thanks for sharing this low cost alternative

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

I reckon that the real ones would be better, but I've used this on some frets and also some other stuff I've done for my wife (all will be revealed soon)! Has given it all a nice shine / gloss.

You can get super cheap non brand ones of these on eBay with the 4 grades. They're about $1-$2.50 from HK.

Even better! This one had been an unused gift that my wife wanted to get rid of.
