    Hi Jared,

Welcome! I'm sure you'll enjoy your first build. I have never built this specific model, but I would suggest getting the bridge on there to check string height with the neck as is. In my experience, it's like it is for a reason. Chuck the bridge and outside strings on there and have a look at string height with the bridge saddles at their lowest level.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Gav.

Hey Jared, well done starting a build diary and this axe should look sweet in azure lagoon. This is a bolt on neck so with a tune-o-matic bridge the fingerboard will sit proud. I'd suggest you do what Gav suggested and fit the bridge/tailpiece and both E string tuners and see how the height will look. Most bolt on necks the neck is parallel with the body so with the height of the TOM bridge the neck has to be a little higher. Set in necks (glued) are generally tapered/angled down to compensate the bridge height. Let us know how you go. If the neck heel is very tight in the neck pocket you may have to sand it a little. The end photo the neck doesn't look flat/level. It should sit level in the pocket

Ive done some research and in some models of 70's guitars that the firebirds from the fret board is meant to sit higher than the body, just finished my deep stain for the azure lagoon on the body and have started designing the headstock
