Adz, have you seen any Lap steel Kits in your meanderings through the Chinese Kit pages?
Lately I have been thinking about making a Lap steel. more out of respect for my late mother who apparently played a lap steel in her youth. folowed by the Piano in later life.
I found a few US people making them but at $150 plus postage for what is effectively a lump of 4x2 was a bit hot even if it was walnut.

I built mine out of a lump of hardwood I rescued from a council cleanup pile beside the road. Although I can see the benefit of a proper shaped piece of wood.

So what sites have you looking at the "Georgeboards" kits?

This site taught me all I need to know to build mine..

Yeah guys I am thinking I might head up the hardware stoe and get a lump of Ash or Oak KDH. 150mm x 800mm x 45mm, and just go crazy with the Router. Seems the fretboard is about 60mm all the way down. with a standard width bridge.
I've got a couple of spares that could be donors to the project.

I did look at traveller solid body set necks guitars as a donor body coupled with a straight neck, but though at $200++, too much money for a project like this.
