Thread: Danger Paisley Build Diary

  1. #1
    Hey guys,

So as this guitar is half PitBull stuff and half not, I have decided to start a build diary showing my progress from scratch which will hopefully get me another kickass telecaster!

I picked up the tele body recently for a steal so I thought, as I had successfully done a TL-1 kit, why not make this into my next project?

I have just ordered a TON of new stuff to go into this beauty, including a tonerider TL set and every piece of new hardware (in Gold) imaginable.
The colour scheme I am going with is gold hardware on the red paisley body, maple neck and finger board finished in Wudtone Amber (Just have to wait on the new TL necks to come into PBG) and matching gold machine heads.

My main area of trouble, I think, will be the wiring of the control plate to Tele spec as I am unfamiliar with wiring in general. However, I will cross that bridge when I get to it

Looking forward to getting this into a gig-able guitar as a paisley tele is something that I have been dreaming about ever since I picked up the guitar (some 7-8 years ago)

    Schweet!
This wiring diagram will sort you out

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

DB, he may need a little more guidance with the wiring as that diagram doesn't show the pre-wired elements that are included on the TL-1 kit control plate. Danger, once you work out exactly what components you will be using (switch type and pots etc), we can sort out a diagram that will show everything you need.

    Cheers guys!

Scott - I have ordered two 500K pots, 022 Orange cap and a three way swtich from PBG As well as the Toneriders TL set. Is that all the info you're after? Thanks for the help!

Wokka - Yeah thats right. Has a clear coated finish on her. There are two very small dings on the front paisley bit but with any luck, the bridge should fit over them!

If you're using a CRL style 3-way lever switch with Toneriders, then this diagram should be all you need.

If you have any questions, just ask, someone here will have the right answer.

That's gonna look sweet. Red paisley FTW.

Btw. Single coil pups are usually paired with 250k pots and .047 mfd caps. You can use 500k pots though the higher value pots will add more treble to your sound, thus why 500k pots are used with humbuckers.

This only matters on the volume pot, the tone pot can be of any value, as I understand.

    Hi tDM,
STUNNING Body. don't be concerned about mixing and matching PBG bits with bits from other sources. The story of this guitar is all about the journey. I'd love to know how the paisley pattern got on that body. it is simply fascinating to me. As a kid in school I used to draw paisley all over my school books. but now it's some 45+ years on and there isn't a cocky shit hope in hell of me ever doing another paisley. I simpley love what you have on this Tele. please keep us up to date with what you do and how you do it to this guitar.

    Cheers PK
