Thread: Union Jack Strat

  1. #1
I've got a stack of guitar bodies that I got for a song and since I had a small snag with my RC-1, I started this. In every painters career there comes a time to put a Union Jack on something, ,mine will be a strat body. These pictures are after wood prep. I sealed the wood with PU clear, then I masked, drew the rippled flag and cut it out. I use airbrush paint, it works well and it's acrylic. I didn't show it in the pictures, I left the sides of the body natural wood.

I liked the simple stencil look but, not special at all. I didn't want complicated, just old looking, I was going to give it shreds on the outside but, liked what I was seeing and just aged it. Final picture is what I'm going for with yellow maple neck.

Wow, love the aging effect! Was that done with airbrush?

Great work Johnny. I'm really a fan of Union Jack guitars and you've done an amazing job with yours. Outstanding. Can you post the finished guitar when it's assembled?

    Cheers,
    Gav.

    That's very cool indeed.

I particularly like the flag being "rippled" which I reckon gives the body a look of real fluidity.
Must get my AB skills up to your level one day soon.
Do you use Createx acrylics in your airbrush?
