    Today we learnt of the death of Paco de Lucía, the pre-eminent flamenco virtuoso of the last 40 years.

    In this excerpt he plays the famous Adagio of Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez". It is glorious, passionate, and astounding as Paco could not read music- he learnt this by ear especially for this performance.

    And the composer was in the audience.

    I am heartbroken to lose a great hero, but am privileged to have heard this phenomenal guitar playing.

    Yeah. This guy was amazing. Most times it was hard to believe it was only one person playing cos it sounded like an ensemble. I was saddened to read about his passing but very glad I got to know about him.
